EMERGENCY and DISASTER RESPONSE
Drones have proven to be valuable tools in public safety and emergency response management. Effective disaster relief efforts require a timely and accurate situational assessment and updates. Drones provide a more efficient means of data collection than traditional ground-based and manned aerial methods. Drones are not impeded by fallen trees, downed powerlines, mudslide, or rubble. They can cover more acreage and access dangerous and hard to access areas so that first responders are not unnecessarily placed in harms ways. Drone systems can provide visible and thermal data in near real-time to incident commanders.
Drone Data Solutions:
Search and Rescue—thermal sensors can be used to detect people where they may not be easily seen. Visible sensors can be used to identify risk areas and allow first responders to create more efficient evacuation plans in the event of landslides, flooding, or earthquakes. Additionally, drones have been used in search and rescue of lost hikers and hunters, create digital records of accident scenes, and identify thermal anomalies in utility assets thus minimizing disaster caused conflagrations.
Post-Disaster—drones can survey damage following a natural disaster or catastrophic event. Drone data can be used to identify areas of probable future flooding, landslides, or infrastructure failure (bridges, dams, etc.).
SEAKdrones can capture visible (RGB) and multispectral data with survey grade accuracy using its Matrice 300 RTK and Phantom 4 RTK aircraft. SEAKdrones’ Inspire Pro-mounted radiometric FLIR sensor enables highly accurate and very high resolution data capture. When combined, these sensors offer emergency managers critical near real-time information. Having been a former federal Agency Administrator on wildfires in AZ, CA, and NV, SEAKdrone’s pilot is familiar with ICS structure and the importance of situational awareness.
